A Jewel in the Midst of the Hohe Tauern National Park - the emerald valley
The Habach Valley is centrally located in the municipality Bramberg am Wildkogel, right in the core zone of the Hohe Tauern National Park and is also named the emerald valley. The only significant European emerald deposit is located in the Habach Valley, on the upper reaches of a gulley known as the Leckbachrinne. But it’s not just emeralds: numerous other minerals can be found in the Habach Valley.
And it’s not just mineral-collectors who are attracted to the Habach Valley. The area features plenty of hiking trails. It’s possible to cross over to the Hollersbach Valley via the Larmkogel summit; or, if you prefer, a pleasant family ramble to Wildenkaralm, a pristine alpine meadow with magnificent views.
